Good afternoon everyone! I hope you all are having a great day thus far! How did your personality test from yesterday turn out? Here is my results:
According to this, I am both high in influence and dominance, and particularly low in compliance. If you would like to understand these better, here is a link to the explanations. I love getting to know myself better, as it allows me to employ my strengths and improve upon my weaknesses! I am very curious to know what results everyone else got on this exam, so leave a comment below or post to our Facebook page!
Are you ready for today's advice?! Okay, here we go:
Today, try to listen more than you talk. Take in what other people are saying, and allow them to see that you really value them, and what they have to say! This will not only allow you to form better relations with others, but it will also give you a deeper sense of confidence in yourself.
Have a great day everyone!

Your Daily Dose
By: Michelle
I hope that everyone had a great holiday! Cole and I had a wonderful time together, and we enjoyed a very relaxing weekend! Today I am back with another Daily Dose, and this one is going to help you understand yourself better! Today, I want everyone to take a free personality test (the link below will take you there). This will help you understand and improve upon yourself in ways that you cannot even imagine! If you are married, ask your spouse to take one as well, so that each of you can understand how the one relates to the other, and how they relate to specific scenarios. The DISC personality test is a wonderful tool, so make sure you take advantage!

Your Daily Dose

Good morning everyone! Did anyone make any progress yesterday? If so, you can tell me about it in the comments, or better yet, post a picture of your progress on our Facebook page!
I organized my bookshelf in light of recently getting out of classes! Here is what it looks like now:
YAY! It was the perfect small project to boost my mood!
Alright, so here is my advice for your day:
Give yourself praise for what you have accomplished in the past couple days, the last month, this past year, and throughout your life. Stand up confidently and say out loud, "I am so proud of myself for all I have done." When you are giving something your all, make sure you take notice of yourself. Write down your accomplishments as they happen, so that you can re-read them when you are feeling down. Make sure you are engaging in positive self-talk, and eliminating as much negative thinking as you can! You are special, you are unique, and you are so important!
What about yourself are you proud of?
Have a great Saturday everyone!

Your Daily Dose

Good morning everyone!!! Some advice for your day:
Start a new project today, but just take the first step! What is something that you have been wanting to do? Clean out your office? Learn to speak a new language? Start today! The secret with starting slow is that you will not get burnt out, and you will be anxious to continue in the future. Start with cleaning out just one drawer today, or pick up a beginners book to learning German! Don't let yourself be overwhelmed, it is likely to weigh on your self-confidence, so start small and build on it instead!

Sunday Six: Habits to Make or Break
By: Michelle
1. Complete tasks- I am a huge procrastinator, as most of
you know! I have started observing people who are very productive, and they all
have one thing in common: when they decide that something needs to get done,
they either do it right then and there, or, if it cannot be completed on the
spot, they either schedule it for a definite time, or take the first steps
necessary to complete it. For the next 21 days, I will dedicate myself to
completing what I need to do right away!
1. Wash my face- I
want to start washing my face every morning AND every night before bed.
Normally I am pretty good at washing it at night, but with my crazy schedule
this past month, I had been less than spectacular at scheduling this, and my
face does show it!
2. Learn to listen- I have always been told that lawyers
always have the upper-hand in conversations because they tend to be very
self-centered. I never thought that would be me, but I do tend to change the
focus of all conversations onto myself, now that I really analyze my most
recent behavior. I will commit to 21 days of letting other people be the stars
of their stories, rather than shifting the focus onto myself.
3. Make our bed- For 21 days, I will make our bed every
morning. I love the feeling of getting into a freshly pulled-back bed at night!
4. Make contact- I am REALLY bad at keeping in touch with
people! For 21 days I will call or write a letter to someone different AT LEAST
once per day. The reason why I say someone different is because I talk to my
mom 2-3 times a week, and I do not want that to count towards this habit!
5. Do dishes- I am really bad at waiting to wash our
lunchboxes until the next morning, and it is always more difficult to clean
them. For 21 days I will clean every single dish either right after we eat, or
right after we get home from work/school.
What do you want to change about your habits???

What can I do?
By: Michelle
After spending much of the morning watching the news, and spending a decent amount of time crying on and off, I am left with a feeling of being very small in this world. I have always believed that one person can change the world, but right now, I am having trouble coming up with solutions to these problems. In recent years, an average of about 32 people, most of which are under the age of 21 are killed by gun violence each day. How in the world to I change that? I own a gun, and so does my husband, and I do believe in the second amendment. I was prompted to take a second look at the second amendment this morning, so here it is:
It is interesting, is it not? "A well regulated militia." What does this mean? Do we consider our country in need of a militia anymore? We do have the strongest military in the world, but I will give you this. Maybe we are in need of having a militia. Is what we currently have "well regulated"? I do not know if I can say it is "well regulated" given the statistics... However, I am not in the position, nor do I have enough knowledge of the subject at this time to purpose any policy changes.
So what can I do right now? Well, I can cry, I can feel pitiful, I can experience a great amount of empathy for the families involved, but all this will change nothing... I can write a letter to my congress people demanding change, but what kind of change can I propose? I think what I need to do is smile at people on the street; I think that what I need to do is recognize when people are dealing with difficulties, and take the time to console them, to help them; I think that what I need to do is understand that everyone needs love and companionship, and do my best to be compassionate towards others; I think that what I need to do is understand that every human life is created equal, and although people are different and may seem outside of what our communities recognize as norms, doesn't mean that we should treat them differently. Our race breeds hate, and we isolate those who we deem as "weird" or "awkward." We cannot do this anymore! We can see what this has caused, and it is unacceptable to allow it to continue. We can all change the future by simply loving people more, and loving them better. So please, take time to eliminate some of the heartbreak of our future by simply showing the love that I know we all possess.
I love you all,
Michelle
