I have so much to do right now... I need to get a refund on a policy we have, I need to write a few letters and a birthday card, I need to make our meals menu and grocery list for next week, I have a lot of research to do for some papers, and the list goes on and on...
I have talked about procrastination before, but I did not elaborate on what causes it. Sometimes you may just really not want to do something, so you put it off; however, most of the time you want to do it all, and because the stress is so intense, you just put things off to keep yourself sane! That is where I am at right now! I am so overwhelmed with the amount of work I need to do that I am just not doing any of it.
I have been in this situation before, and there is a method that pulls me out of this slump every-single-time! Here it is: a countdown timer. Set the timer for however long you want to spend on a single task, set it, and then get to work! I love using this method when it comes to cleaning, homework for individual classes, etc. During the time that you have specified, you are only allowed to work on, and think about that task, and nothing else! When the timer goes off, it is time to move on to the next thing on your list!
What are some of your procrastibusters?
