Sunday Six: Tips for Finals

By: Michelle

I know that a lot of you are worried about this coming week, but I am here to tell you that you will be fine! It is very overwhelming to have several exams and/or papers due all at once, but you will get through it, and what do you get as a reward you may ask? Uh.... Christmas! Duh!!! Anyways, here are six tips to get you through the week!

1. Use your time wisely- it may be appealing to procrastinate, just because you are feeling so overwhelmed, but push through it!

2. Don't neglect any of your classes- sometimes it may seem as though you need to devote all of your time to a particularly difficult class, but remember that your GPA depends on all of your classes. It would be silly to do really well in one class that you were worried about, and only moderately well on the others because you neglected them!

3. Create a plan- Take an hour and write down everything that needs to get done, and when you plan on doing it. Once you have a plan, make it law! Do not stray from this plan unless there is an emergency (a real emergency, not that free ice cream coupon that is expiring tomorrow)!

4. Be Confident- You have done this before, whether in earlier semesters, or in high school. Make sure you walk into every classroom with confindence. If you are not confident, your nerves and negative self-talk are bound to affect your preformance.

5. Create a reward system- When you complete a study session, or you finish reading your text book, what are you going to do? Do not just jump into the next class, but instead create a reward for each task, so that you have something to look forward to as you are studying.

6. Keep the big picture in mind- This is just one week, and no matter what, time is only going to move forward. At the end of this week, you will be done with all of your classes, and you will get a nice long break. This is only one semester out of your entire college career, and you did your best. That is all that matters!
