Method my Madness: The Sock-Bun

YAY! I just discovered the sock-bun! So I have incredibly thin hair, and in order for me to get a nice sized bun going on, I have to tease the crap out of my hair. Obviously this is no bueno option if I am looking to keep my hair from becoming more thinner than it already is. ENTER: SOCK-BUN!

So here is my method:

What you will need:

1. A sock which has lost his/her partner. Choose a thicker sock for a thicker bun, or a thinner sock for a thinner bun, and try to match the tone of your hair (darker hair use a darker sock, lighter hair use a lighter sock)

2. A pair of scissors

3. Two hair elastics

4. Bobby pins

5. Hair spray (if needed)

Process:

My husband's worn out CLEAN sock!

1. Cut the tip of the toe off of the sock

2. Roll the sock up from the toe, trying to remain as even as possible.

3. Tie your hair up using one of the elastics in the desired position ( I prefer higher on my head because I look like a grandma if I do lower).

4. Put your ponytail through the sock-bun, and place the sock-bun snug against your head.

5. Evenly distribute your hair over the sock-bun so there is no sock showing through.

6. Place the second elastic over your sock-bun and hair.

7. Pin the loose ends around the base of the sock-bun so they are no longer visible.

Not bad for my first time! I am going to keep practicing and if I have any breakthroughs, I will let you guys know!

Enjoy your day!
