First week at LMU

So this was my first week at LMU and I am thrilled with my decision to spend my last year of undergrad here! Obviously, a lot weighed into my decision to pick this school, as there are many great colleges in the Los Angeles area. This school is everything good about a small private school mixed with everything great about a large public university. First, it has small class sizes (I think they said the average was under 20 people per class), caring professors (which actually have time for you), a ton of resources (it is private, so there is a great deal of "funding" if you will), and you genuinely feel as though you belong and you matter. Second, it has very prominent professors, a well-know name and great reputation, and all of the great amenities that come with having the aforementioned attributes (like amazing lab equipment, a gorgeous campus, ect.). Another great thing about a private school: no out-of-state tuition! I don't have to pay $20,000 more per year than all the "in-state-ers" just because I didn't live here for two years. I pay the same amount as everyone else, and because it is a private school, and it is more expensive, my fellow students seem to take their college experience a lot more serious (aka- they have career goals, and they do care about their education and not just next week's kegger), which is not what I experienced during my time at a public institution.

Anyways, I just though I would share a couple highlights of my first week:

1. The Convo-Hour Farmers Market

There is an hour and a half during the middle of the day where there are no classes, and the school puts on something to entertain the students. Sometimes there is live music, dancing, food, clubs, ect. On Thursday there was a great farmers market! Tons of organic food (which you know I am a fan of due to my post about packing lunches), and live music! It was a blast!

 2. The funniest place for a bathroom stall

Yeah, that is outside right there. It is on the second floor, so it is not like someone can walk by and peer down at you, but your shoulders and up are clearly visible from outside, and it is not like you cannot tell it is a bathroom from out there! So there is a total "so-and-so is peeing show" going on when someone is using this stall! I know it is an old building, but come on!

All in all, my first week was great, and although I would love to sit here and tell you more, my classwork is screaming at me from across the room!

Enjoy your day!

Did you start school this week? Or maybe a new job recently? What was your experience? Did you ever think you would see a toilet window-show?
