My October LSAT scores are supposed to be out today, sent to me via email, and I would be lying if I said I didn't wake up every hour to check my phone for that darn email! Unfortunately, nothing yet! I jumped on to the LSAC website to see if they posted the scores there, and a nice little message informed me that, because of Hurricane Sandy, I might not see my score until later next week! Although I really want to be upset about this, in the wake of all that has happened along our Northeast and Mideastern coast line, and in our neighboring countries, I am only left saddened by the tremendous loss that people are faced with. The latest death toll has reached at least 133 people (source) throughout the countries of Haiti, the United States, Cuba, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Canada, and Jamaica. I tip my hat to the President, although I do not always agree with him, for taking these last crucial days in the election to spend supporting an area that he already has a sure chance of winning in. I do not care if it is on his political agenda or not, it is the right thing to do!
If you are interested in helping the victims of this disaster, there are many ways you can do so. If you would like to make a monetary donation, you can donate to the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, World Vision, AmeriCares, or Feeding America. Also, you can support animal victims by donating to the American Humane Society, or The Humane Society of the United States. If you are not in the position to donate money, you can donate blood at your local Red Cross. Almost 100 blood drives have been cancelled in light of the storm, so supplies are down. Also remember that donations are needed long after the initial shock of the disaster wears off, so if you do not have the means to help now, keep in mind that donations will never arrive too late!
I will still be eagerly awaiting my score, but in light of what has happened, I think waiting patiently is the least I can do...
