Movie Monday

By: Cole

This weeks movie is:

Plot:  Based on the true story of the 1980 CIA operation that used the guise of a fake science fiction film to recover six American diplomatic personnel trapped in revolutionary Iran.

Review:  The opening scene of the takeover of the US embassy, the streets flooded with angry protestors climbing over the walls, smashing in windows to get inside the embassy, capturing and blindfolding the people inside, and leading them away, gives a sense of real danger and peril that faces the six who manage to get away.  The use of historical footage and photos to recreate 1980 Tehran increases the tension and suspense.  This is indeed a story that is pretty far fetched even for Hollywood, which only makes it more incredible that it is true.  The level of danger never fades as the film moves forward, only building as time goes on.  I believe this is a solid piece of film making from Actor/Director Ben Affleck, and if you get the chance I recommend you go see it.

Side note:  As we were leaving the theater someone in the front row had apparently exploded after gulping down a bucket of popcorn leaving only a 64oz soda, some napkins, and a smattering of popcorn behind.
