I went to the doctor and it turns out I have full-blown bronchitis. I must say that it is almost a relief to know what I am dealing with, rather than not really knowing how to treat myself. On this TGIF I want to explain the importance of talking to your doctor, and more importantly, knowing how to make your doctor talk to you! As much as I appreciate what doctors do, I know that they are extremely strapped for time, and often times they just prescribe you medication without explaining all of the important information that can lead you to make your own decisions. Remember: it is YOUR body, therefore it is YOUR decision, not theirs. It is important that you are able to trust your doctor, but you are an autonomous person, so you need to be able to make decisions for yourself. If you have to push your doctor, and ask a lot of question, that is perfectly fine! You are paying them more than enough money for them to spend a little bit of time talking to you about your condition, and if they get moody because you are keeping them, it is probably time to get a new doctor. Don't be afraid to get a little pushy... It is your health after all!
