It is so funny how people think I have a storage room full of motivation housed within my body! I get a ton of stuff done during the day, and I still have time to have a fabulous relationship with my husband and my family, as well as time for my hobbies (such a cooking), but all of this is not due to an enormous amount of motivation, but rather, motivation applied at the correct time. Most people do not need motivation to continue something, but instead, they need the motivation to start. If I can start a project, or a paper, etc., then it is easy to continue doing it. It is starting that requires that burst of motivation.
For example: there is nothing more intimidating, in my opinion, than starting a term paper. That first sentence is so scary to me that often times, I feel like putting it off... indefinitely! Once I get that first sentence down, however, I can work weightlessly for hours. Learning how to apply motivation can change your life and the amount of success you will encounter in the future. Next time you are avoiding a task, gather up everything you have inside of you, and say "yes" to it, and I promise, you won't look back.

Success: Taking Respondsibility
By: Michelle
As you all know, I have been reading The Success Principles. I am hooked! There is such great information that I have been learning and re-learning. The very first chapter is about taking 100% responsibility for virtually everything in your life. Let me make a little disclaimer: This is really hard. I play the blame-game just as much as anyone else, and I will not deny it! But I do realize that blaming others will not result in the success that I strive to accomplish! Albert Einstein once defined insanity as "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Well, blaming others has gotten me nowhere, so I need to change what I am doing.
In the book, Jack Canfield describes a very simple formula: Event (E) + Response (R) = Outcome (O). Many times, you cannot prevent an event or circumstances from happening, so instead of blaming your job for downsizing, a failed economy, you husband or wife, etc., you instead need to change your response to the event or circumstances. After all, you are the one who did not make yourself more valuable, you are the one that did not save for an emergency, you are the one who took out too many loans, you are the one who married her/him, you are the one who neglected the relationship, you are the one who ate the dessert. Getting to the point of admitting all of this is so very painful, but as soon as you get there you can move forward, and if you are unable to admit all of this, you are likely to fall into the same traps in the future. You do not need to admit these things to anyone else; you can do this privately, but you must do it.
When an event occurs, or you find yourself in a particular set of circumstances, take a moment to decide how you are going to respond. You could be angry and stomp your feet, OR you could decide upon a productive way to deal with the mess. Let's say there will be a freeway closed for construction for the week, and it is going to take you an extra hour to get to work in the morning. You could go to work at the same time you do every morning, be late into your job, mumble about the traffic when you are asked why you are late, then when you are up for a promotion, you lose it because of you negative attitude, and the week that you arrived late to work due to traffic. You are the one who decided your fate. Instead, you could have left an hour early for work that week, possibly learned a foreign language using the CD set you got for Christmas, and when promotion time rolled around, you would get it over the guy who rolled in late with a frown on his face. It is all about being prepared, and keeping your attitude positive. Don't let events or circumstances ruin your life; find a way to make them fit into the bigger picture.

Getting Organized
By: Michelle
Since classes are starting on Monday, I have been trying to get slightly more organized before it is too late (don don donnnnn)! Last semester turned into a complete mess by the time Finals came around, and I was left with this:
And this:
Kind of embarrassing if you ask me!
This semester (did I mention it is my last semester of undergrad?!!) is going to be different! For the first time, I am going to try to go as electronic as I can! I know that I have at least one professor who will not allow any electronics in the classroom, so I will have to hand-write my notes, then either scan or type them out when I get home.
This morning, I decided to enter in all of my classes, along with the room numbers and professor's names, into my iPhone calendar. I do like that Apple products have the iCloud program so they can automatically transfer all of the information in my calendar and notes onto all of my devises (aka- my laptop and my iPad).
Did I mention that my wonderful friend's birthday is coming up?! Happy Birthday Ash! Okay, back to business! This app allows me to have instant access to the dates, times, and locations of my classes as well as specifics about the classes I am taking:
Soooooo awesome! I am surfing the internet for any good "going electronic" tricks, so I will be back with more if I can find them! Please let me know if you have any ideas, or methods that you use!
Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone!

At the moment...
By: Michelle
I have one full week of break left before I start classes again, so I am trying to get in every spare moment of relaxation that I can! For the next week I will be desperately trying to get through this book:
I have had this book for years, and have only read the first few chapters! The book is slightly intimidating, but when you really get into it, it is quite an easy read! I will keep you guys updated on what I learn as I go.
What are you reading at the moment?

Guess What Guys...
By: Michelle
Looking back at 2012 revealed a HUGE milestone for us: We have not used a credit card in one whole year!!! We made a decision a year back that we would be more responsible with our resources, and that is exactly what we did! We are no longer accruing any more debt, which is such a relief! We learned how to budget (and I mean REALLY budget, aka- every penny), and it has changed everything in our lives, from where and what we do, to the way we speak and look at one another! I am so happy that we decided to get on a plan and make it work, and I would be happy to help anyone that is interested in trying it out! Check out our plan here, and let me know if you have any questions!
Happy New Year everyone!!!

Your Daily Dose!
By: Michelle
Today's Daily Dose really hits home with me! Today try to avoid being too apologetic. Many people over use the word "sorry," and all it says is that you are not very confident in yourself. Make sure you are also not being apologetic in your body language. If you have your shoulders pushed forward, and are staring at the ground, you will likely be interpreted as a person who cannot take care of business. Don't do that to yourself! Walk with your shoulders back, and your head held high (be sure to not trip over something by mistake, aka- something I would do!). You are strong, and you know exactly what you want; don't apologize for that!
Have a great day everyone!

Cookin' with Laura: Cinnamon Rolls
By: Michelle
This year, we decided to give back to our community on Christmas, and what better way than to support our local fire department?! So on Christmas, we put together these wonderful, amazing, incredible, scrumptious, delicious pieces of joy for our firefighters. We decided that since they give their day on Christmas to keep our community safe, we should, at the very least, feed them some good, homemade food, and who better to provide the recipe than the amazing Laura Vitale?! It is my holiday tradition to make cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning, so I just made a large batch to accommodate our new friends! Here is how you can bring joy to anyone who bites into one of these heavenly buns:
As always, you can watch Laura herself make these here!
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
1 Package of Dry Yeast
¾ cup of Whole Milk
¼ cup of Granulated Sugar
¼ cup of Water, warmed up to 115 degrees
¼ tsp of Vanilla Extract
1 Egg
1 tsp of Salt
¼ cup of Unsalted Butter, melted
4 cups of All Purpose Flour
¼ cup of Melted Butter, to brush over the top before baking
For the Filling:
1/3 cup of Unsalted Butter, at room temperature
¾ cup of Brown Sugar
¼ cup of Granulated Sugar
1 1/2 Tbsp of Ground Cinnamon
For the Glaze:

For the Glaze:
¼ cup of Cream Cheese, at room temperature
1 Tbsp of Butter, at room temperature
1 1/4 cups of Powdered Sugar
½ tsp of Vanilla Extract
3 to 4 Tbsp of Warm Milk
Process:
1) In a small bowl, combine the warm water and 1
tsp of the granulated sugar, sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it
sit for about 5 minutes.
2) In the bowl of a standing mixer fitted with a dough hook, or in a large bowl with a wooden spoon, mix the egg, milk, salt, sugar and melted butter. Add 2 cups of the flour and the water, vanilla and yeast mixture, mix until its all incorporated and slowly add about 2 more cups of flour. Turn the speed up to medium and let it mix for about 5 to 7 minutes or until you have a smooth dough, or kneed for about 10 minutes.
3) Oil a large bowl with some vegetable oil and set aside. Take the dough out of the mixer and pull it together with your hands to form a ball. Place it in the oiled bowl and oil the top of the dough with a little vegetable oil. Cover with plastic wrap and place it in a warm spot to rise for about 2 hours.
4) In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, granulated sugar and cinnamon for the filling, set aside.
5) When doubled in size, punch the dough down and roll it out onto a floured surface into a 15x9” rectangle. Spread the soft butter over the top and sprinkle evenly over the sugar and cinnamon mixture.Staring from one of the long ends, tightly roll the dough into a jelly roll form. Cut into 14 to 16 slices (make sure they are even) and place them cut side down in a well buttered 9x13 baking pan. Cover with plastic wrap and let put them back into a warm spot to rise for another 1 ½ hours.

7) Once risen, brush them with some melted butter and bake them for about 30 or until golden brown.
7) Once risen, brush them with some melted butter and bake them for about 30 or until golden brown.
8) While the cinnamon rolls cool for a few minutes make the glaze. Mix
all the ingredients of the glaze in a bowl except for the milk, once the
cream cheese is all mixed, slowly add the milk until you get a runny
glaze consistency. Immediately pour the glaze over the cinnamon rolls
and enjoy!
This recipe is very time consuming, but the payoff is amazing! Try these ASAP, and make sure you share! Happy cooking!
